Gua Sha is a traditional Chinese therapy based on knowledge and experience that has been passed down through generations for more than a thousand years. This unique art has attracted attention due to its extraordinary effects in relieving flu and colds. Historically, the practice was popularized during the Tang and Ming Dynasties. It helps to detoxify the body and promote better blood circulation, while also improving metabolism. In the old days, the instrument used for GuaSha was either a coin or a ceramic spoon. These tools were dipped in liquor or water and used to scrape the surface of the skin until red patches appeared. Gua means rubbing, Sha means the accumulation of toxins. Gua Sha helps remove aged and dead cells, toxins on the surface of our skin which cause poor circulation and nutrient absorption, pain and discomfort.
